THE PUB

Downstairs at the black horse

We're delighted to have re-opened a pub that has been serving ale to the thirsty of Fitzrovia as far back as 1809. Open under its original name; The Black Horse is back to its proper form, a London Pub, after a stint as a burger restaurant, among other things. Rumour has it that Karl Marx is said to have addressed a meeting at the pub. On the ground floor, you'll find a well-stocked bar serving an array of craft beers and international lagers alongside an extensive offering of wines and spirits. It's the perfect place for week-night drinks as the nearby offices empty and the crowds spill into the pub making for the ideal after-work atmosphere.

A Blackhorse favourite The Last Word is a Prohibition-era cocktail that got its beginnings in the Detroit Athletic Club's bar in the early 1920s. The drink was served at the bar throughout this period and was spread further afield by vaudeville performer Frank Fogarty – also known as the 'Dublin Minstrel

The grandfather of all cocktails! The Sazerac, born in New Orleans, was reputed to be the first cocktail ever called a cocktail. Now more commonly made with rye whisky, the original was made with French congnac, Peychauds, a twist of lemon and an absinthe rinse.🥃🥃

Here is the Alaska. Crisp, botanical, bracing, bold—all of these are terms that can be used to described the Alaska. A close relative of the Martini, the Alaska was developed in the early 1900s, though the origin of its name remains a mystery.
